We already knew the NFL fined Bucs head coach Raheem Morris $100,000 for reaching out to a couple of his players during the lockout, but we never found out how much the league fined his team. Well, until today. ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed the fine on the air and on Twitter:

Adam Schefter NFL wound up fining the Buccaneers a whopping $250,000 for allegedly having contact with their players during the lockout.

Morris didn’t try very hard to hide his contact — he admitted during a radio interview that he called cornerback Aqib Talib following his arrest and tight end Kellen Winslow following the birth of his child.
Morris’ phone calls may have been brief, but they were explicitly prohibited by the NFL, which instituted a zero-tolerance policy prohibiting contact between team employees and players. After Morris made the comments, the NFL reviewed his phone records to confirm the calls before issuing the fine.
