If you rewind two and a half years ago, Albert Haynesworth was preparing to hit the open market as the top free agent available. His price tag was very, very high and two of the top teams in the bidding were the Washington Redskins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Albert Haynesworth’s Big Boat Prevented Him From Signing With Tampa Bay In 2009
Ultimately he signed a reported seven-year, $100 million deal with the Redskins but the Bucs were right in the middle of the chase for Haynesworth. Now, in the middle of the 2011 season, Haynesworth finally lands with the Bucs after he was cut by New England and Tampa Bay GM Mark Dominik pulled the trigger on claiming Haynesworth.
Haynesworth met with the Tampa Bay media and predictably one of the questions was why he chose the Redskins over the Bucs two and a half years ago.
Haynesworth said he had just bought a nice big boat and didn’t trust himself to focus on football solely during the season.
Yeah....I’m not sure this is going to work out very well.
