NFL Scores Week 10, Cardinals Vs. Eagles: Arizona’s 21-17 Upset Leaves Philly In Dire Straits

Philadelphia blew another fourth-quarter lead on the way to a 21-17 loss that dropped it to 3-6 on the season.

The Philadelphia Eagles entered the 2011 NFL season with Super Bowl aspirations. Now, midway through a disastrous season and after a 21-17 loss to Arizona in Week 10, .500 seems like a pipe dream.

John Skelton threw for 315 yards and three touchdowns for the Cardinals, who came back from 14-7 and 17-14 deficits in the fourth quarter for an unlikely win. Larry Fitzgerald had two of those touchdown catches, and hauled in seven passes for 146 yards in what was definitely his finest game of the year.

But the narrative in the aftermath of this game will be how Philadelphia seems allergic to holding leads and making plays late in games. Michael Vick completed just 16 of 34 passes for 128 yards on the day, and he was intercepted twice, including on a potentially game-winning drive. Vick ran for 79 yards, and LeSean McCoy ran for 81 yards and a touchdown on his 14 carries.

Most worryingly for Philly fans, though, Skelton and the Cardinals earned a whopping 16 first downs through the air against the Eagles’ well-paid secondary.

That’s the sort of thing the Eagles, now 3-6, may hear from their fans about. Arizona moves to 3-6 with the win.
