After a first half that was nearly nap-inducing aside from a few plays worthy of a chuckle, the New England Patriots and New York Jets have began to trade touchdowns on Sunday Night Football. The Patriots followed up a quick strike from Tom Brady to Deion Branch with a pick-six from linebacker Rob Ninkovich to give the Patriots a 37-16 lead as they take control of the AFC East.
Patriots Vs. Jets Score: Tom Brady, New England Defense Rolling In Second Half
Ninkovich’s interception was actually his second of the game -- his first wasn’t bad either, though, despite being a bit fluky. The veteran linebacker had previously posted two interceptions during his entire seven-year NFL career, meaning Sunday night’s performance is probably going to stick with him for quite awhile.
Brady orchestrated an amazing drive to set up the 8-yard touchdown pass to Branch, going no-huddle for the majority of the 14-play drive that ate six minutes and 51 seconds of the play clock.
Brady has completed 25 of his 38 passing attempts for 312 yards and three touchdowns. Branch has hauled in five of those passes, the longest being a 20-yard catch and run to set up the Patriots for an earlier touchdown.
