Baltimore Ravens LB Ray Lewis hasn't missed a game since the 2007 season but that four-plus year old streak appears to be ending in Week 11. ESPN reports that Lewis is expected to miss Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals due to a toe injury.
Ray Lewis Injury: Ravens LB Expected To Be Out Week 11 Vs. Bengals
Ray Lewis is expected to miss his first game in over four years this weekend as he recovers from a toe injury suffered last week.
The Carroll County Times reports the same and suggests he could miss more games with the injury.
Lewis has not been practicing so the report that he’s not expected to play shouldn’t come as a huge surprise (although I was still surprised to see he’s not likely to play). He suffered the toe injury last week and visited a toe specialist this week for further evaluation.
This much be a painful injury for Lewis to miss a key divisional game like this. The Ravens and Bengals are a half-game behind the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC North and this game will go a long way to helping decide the division winner.
Lewis is the emotional leader on a tough Ravens defense so this will clearly affect them. The good news is that their opponent, the Bengals, aren't at full strength either as WR A.J. Green is expected to miss Sunday's game.
