In Week 2 of the NFL season, Chicago Bears rookie offensive tackle Gabe Carimi sustained a dislocated kneecap. The Bears were previously hopeful that Carimi could return to the field this season with rest and rehab, but he has been unable to recover from the injury. Carimi underwent an arthroscopic procedure on his knee last Friday, at which point the Bears stated that they were unaware how long he would be out. Unfortunately, Carimi will be unable to play again this season. The Bears placed him on injured reserve Friday.

Carimi was a first round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft and had a promising preseason and first game of the season before injury cut his year short. Lance Louis, listed as a guard to start the season, has been starting and playing well in the absence of Carimi. The team has promoted Levi Horn from the practice squad to fill Carimi's vacated roster spot.
