The Minnesota Vikings' Adrian Peterson left Sunday's loss to the Oakland Raiders on a cart, and notched season lows in both carries and rushing yards before leaving the game with an ankle injury. But he's expecting to play for the Vikings in Week 12 against the Falcons.
Adrian Peterson Injury: Vikings RB Expects To Play Week 12
Peterson told the St. Paul Pioneer-Press that he expects to be back in uniform for this Sunday’s match-up in Atlanta:
“That’s not in my DNA,” Peterson said after the Vikings lost 27-21 to Oakland. “I’m going to try to get back as fast as I can and God willing, I’ll be up and ready to run this weekend.”
Peterson's efforts likely won't do much to improve the Vikings' dim prospects for the rest of the 2011 season — at 2-8, Minnesota is in line for a top-five 2012 NFL Draft pick — but he has a personal milestone to pursue. Peterson is just 165 yards back of the Minnesota franchise record for rushing yards, held by Robert Smith at 6,818 yards. And Peterson's averaging 87.2 yards per game on the ground this season, meaning he should be right on schedule to break Smith's record in Week 13 against the Broncos.
