The first quarter of Monday Night Football was probably very entertaining for anyone who is not vehemently opposed to defensive games. The New England Patriots, heavily favored at home, were struggling against the Kansas City Chiefs defense. Kansas City scored first, but the Patriots' decimated secondary was holding their own against inexperienced quarterback Tyler Palko. That was the first quarter. The rest of the game was domination by the Pats, and was only interesting for the highlights.
Patriots-Chiefs Video Highlights: Rob Gronkowski’s Flipping TD And More
Oh, there were highlights! Like this one of Ron Gronkowski scoring a fantastic touchdown on which he seemingly came mere inches from severely injuring his neck.
Julian Edelman’s performance was also a highlight. Most well-known for playing wide receiver (and for some unfortunate legal troubles), Edelman filled in at defensive back on Monday night and played well. He also returned punts, including this one for a touchdown.
Very briefly during that video, you might have seen a huge block. The man who executed it was backup defensive lineman and special teams ace Kyle Love. This probably shouldn't be legal, but it is legal, so we're going to show it to you and call it awesome.
What started as a close game ended up a complete beatdown. The Patriots won by a final score of 34-3, and based on the Chiefs' second half performance, that score is flattering to the losers.
