NFL Picks And Predictions Week 12: 49ers Vs. Ravens

The San Francisco 49ers, coached by Jim Harbaugh, travel to Baltimore to play the Ravens, coached by John Harbaugh, in a prime time Thanksgiving showdown.

Despite a 9-1 record, there are still a few holdouts doubting the San Francisco 49ers' ability to compete with more established teams in the NFL. They get a chance to prove themselves in prime time on Thanksgiving Day against the Baltimore Ravens, capping off the triple header of holiday games.

In case you were living under a rock all year, there is another connection between the 49ers and the Ravens. I’ll let the simplicity of the NFL’s press release explain. “HEAD COACHES JIM (SF) & JOHN (Bal.) HARBAUGH are brothers.” Oh, so that’s why I’ve been hearing about the Harbaugh Bowl all week.

Genetics aside, both teams are incredibly similar, featuring shutdown defenses and conservative, run-first offenses. It makes for a difficult prediction. Brian Burke at the New York Times, using a probability formula gives a slight edge to the Ravens.

The only significant difference in this game is home-field advantage, which belongs to the Ravens, giving them a slight edge.

Peter King picks the 49ers to win. ESPN’s panel leans heavily to the Ravens to win this one. The panel at CBS picks unanimously for the Ravens.
