Thanksgiving Day Football Schedule 2011: Lions-Packers, Texas-Texas A&M And More

Three NFL games and a college football rivalry game provide your Thanksgiving amusement.

It’s Thanksgiving, which means you’ll likely spend the day eating too much stuffing, grazing on turkey all afternoon and loosening your belt. And if you’re like every other red-blooded American, you’ll do all of this with NFL (or college!) football on the TV in the background, providing a familiar soundtrack to drown out the constant chatter from the in-laws.

Lions vs Packers , 12:30 p.m. ET on FOX

The Detroit Lions host the first game, and for the first time in a long while, this game is worthy of your full attention. The Green Bay Packers are putting their undefeated record to the test against of the NFL's most surprising (and resilient) teams. And while most of Green Bay's opponents struggle to keep up with their high-scoring ways, Matthew Stafford proved last week with 335 yards and five touchdowns that he's ready to go toe-to-toe with Aaron Rodgers in their quest to see who can fill up the box score the fastest. Cowboys vs Dolphins, 4:15 p.m. ET on CBS

The Dallas Cowboys host the Miami Dolphins in the second game. A lot of people were quick to write off the Cowboys earlier in the year -- and even more wrote off the Dolphins -- but both teams bring a three-game win streak into Week 12. The Cowboys are currently tied for first in the NFC East with the Giants, and given the number of teams with at least six wins in the NFC, they may need to win the division to make the playoffs. Texas vs. Texas A&M, 8 p.m. ET on ESPN

The last meeting, at least for now, in a series that only World War I could curb promises to be the day’s most hateful affair, if you’re into that sort of thing. Either the Horns or the Aggies can still secure a respectable bowl bid, but postseason play is likely to be the last thing on the minds of anybody in College Station today. Ravens vs. 49ers, 8:20 p.m. ET on NFL Network

The third game on the slate features Jim and John Harbaugh, with the San Francisco 49ers visiting the Baltimore Ravens. Did you know this is the first time in NFL history that two brothers have faced each other as opposing head coaches? If you didn't, you've probably been in a coma this week. Welcome back! The 49ers' 9-1 record has given them a comfortable cushion, but much like the Cowboys, the Ravens will likely need a win to retain their share of first place in the AFC North.
