Randy Edsall Denies Jacksonville Jaguars Coaching Rumors
No one was expecting to hear that Maryland Terrapins coach Randy Edsall might be among them. And yet, longtime NFL scout Dave Razzano said exactly that on Twitter on Tuesday.
As nutty as it sounded, it got out there enough that Edsall had to set the record straight with Jason Reid of the Washington Post:

The Jacksonville Jaguars stayed busy on Wednesday, just 24 hours after firing their head coach and announcing the sale of the team. Prisco, who works out of Jacksonville, knows the team well. As for Del Rio’s firing, Prisco notes that his reported habits may have had something to do with the in-season firing.

Del Rio becomes the first head coach fired in the 2011 NFL season.

The playoffs are obviously a pipe dream and after last season owner Wayne Weaver said, ”“If we’re not in the playoffs, it’s pretty apparent we’ll have a different coach.” That should tell you the Jags were preparing to make this move.
Tucker becomes the interim coach but the Jags will likely look to fill the role permanently after the season. The idea of bringing in a new coach is somewhat foreign to the Jags considering they’ve had just two coaches (Tom Coughlin and Del Rio) in the history of the franchise.
