ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Sportscenter Wednesday morning that Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is unlikely to play Sunday against the Denver Broncos. This followed a similar report from NFL Network's Jaosn LaCanfora on Monday. The Vikings will release their Wednesday practice participation report shortly and one would suspect AP will be a DNP on the report.
Adrian Peterson Injury: Vikings RB May Not Play In Week 13
If Peterson is in fact out, backup Toby Gerhart would get his second straight start for the Vikings. Gerhart started against the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday and put up 44 rushing yards and a touchdown, as well as 19 receiving yards. It wasn't a spectacular performance but given the early deficit, it was enough to provide some positive signs moving forward.
The Vikings face a Denver Broncos team that has played fairly well against the rush and has developed a strong defense during their strong run recently. In fact, as much as the media will talk about Tebow guiding this team to victory, the defense has been as big a factor as anything else in the Broncos sudden rise to prominence.
