Mark Ingram has been officially ruled out for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers according to New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton. The same heel injury kept Ingram out of last week's loss to the St. Louis Rams.
Mark Ingram Injury: Saints RB Ruled Out For Week 9
The Saints will try to move forward with Pierre Thomas and Darren Sproles once again, though the duo struggled last week against what should have been an overmatched opponent. Thomas' 23 yards on seven carries actually led the team. Sproles did his usual damage in the passing game--six receptions for 60 yards--but was even less effective than Thomas on the ground, gaining just 16 yards on six tries. Chris Ivory should also factor into the running mix.
Ingram was unable to practice all week, putting his Week 10 status in jeopardy as well. He averaged a career-best 6.5 yards per carry in his last outing, a Week 7 blowout win over the Indianapolis Colts.
