Earlier this week, Miami Dolphins cornerback Vontae Davis showed up late to practice, then got into an argument with wide receiver Brandon Marshall once he showed up. In Sunday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Davis did not play. The exact reason why is not yet completely certain, but according to Dolphins beat reporter Armando Salguero, the fact that Davis showed up to practice reeking of alcohol might have been a contributing factor.
Miami Dolphins Believe Vontae Davis Was Drunk Night Before Practice
Vontae Davis reportedly showed up at Miami Dolphins practice hungover, with the details of and consequences for his actions to be determined
According to Salguero, the Dolphins believe that Davis was drunk before the practice in question and that he showed up to practice hungover. Tony Sparano, understandably, didn’t have a lot to say when he was asked about the situation and was unwilling to give specifics.
“I’m not going to get into any of that, you guys know that. Vontae is obviously not here. What goes on in those locker room doors will stay between me and Vontae.”
Brandon Marshall was a little less tight-lipped, and didn’t deny his argument with Davis when asked about it after the Dolphins’ win over the Chiefs.
Yeah, one of the reasons why we’re standing here with a W is because the guys in our locker room, we hold each other accountable...Vontae is a special player. He’s one of the best players on our team. We look forward to getting Vontae back hopefully next week. We hold each other accountable and that’s why we’re a special group. Record doesn’t show it but hopefully next week we can put another win back to back..”
