The Oakland Raiders dropped a tough 38-24 loss to the Denver Broncos, but some positives can come out of the performance. Quarterback Carson Palmer took advantage of the bye week and seemed to be a bit more in tune with his receivers on Sunday. He still struggled with another three interceptions, but he also connected on three touchdown passes and threw for 332 yards. In a basic fantasy league, that is worth approximately 19 points. Not too bad for a guy who was sitting on the sidelines through much of the first half of the season.
Carson Palmer Fantasy Recap: Oakland Raiders QB Puts Up A Lot Of Good, A Lot Of bad
The addition of Carson Palmer to the Raiders offense raised a variety of questions that still are not totally answered. Previous leading receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey was barely used on Sunday while Palmer connected well with speedy Jacoby Ford. I think it could be a couple more weeks before we fully understand Palmer's tendencies for fantasy purposes.
The Raiders have a short week as they travel to face the San Diego Chargers in the first Thursday Night Football contest of the season. It will be interesting to see how the Raiders offense rebounds in a short week. The Chargers are coming off a game in which Aaron Rodgers lit them up. Carson Palmer is no Aaron Rodgers, but maybe he'll be able to take advantage of the Chargers on Thursday. There are no byes this week, so barring injury, Palmer is not exactly a guy you want to be starting this weekend.
