Nate Allen Injury: Eagles Safety Suffers Concussion, Won’t Return

Philadelphia Eagles safety Nate Allen was injured just prior to the Chicago Bears touchdown. Allen took a shot to the helmet and was slow to get up. On the next play on the goal line, the Eagles were forced to use just a single safety, Kurt Coleman. According to reports from the sideline, Allen was taken to the locker room to have his head checked out, likely for a possible concussion.

The Eagles are short on safeties as is, especially with Jarrad Page being inactive. The Bears have already run for over 60 yards, so losing a safety along with their ability to run will open up the play-action. To replace Allen, the Eagles will send out rookie safety from Temple, Jaiquawn Jarrett. Jarrett has been active for only three games so far this season, playing sparingly.

Update: Nate Allen has in fact been diagnosed with a concussion, according to the Eagles’ official Twitter account. He will not return.
