Raiders Vs. Chargers Injury Report: Darren McFadden Misses Practice, Ryan Mathews Limited

We break down the first practice participation report for the week as the Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers prepare for Thursday Night Football. For more on the Raiders, check out Silver & Black Pride. For more on the Chargers, check out Bolts from the Blue.

Thursday Night Football debuts this week as the Oakland Raiders travel down to San Diego to face the Chargers. The two teams are sitting at 4-4 and tied with the Kansas City Chiefs for first place in the division, with the Denver Broncos sitting a game back. The race will likely go down to the wire so these divisional matchups have added importance.

Given the short week, both teams began their practice routines on Monday with walkthroughs. Each team issues their first practice participation report for the week, with a second coming Tuesday and a final injury report due Wednesday.

The biggest news continues to be Raiders running back Darren McFadden's sprained foot. McFadden suffered the injury in the first quarter of the Raiders loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He was in a boot for several days and on crutches through the team's bye week. McFadden still has not begun running, which would indicate he is likely going to be unable to play on Thursday. If he is unable to go, Michael Bush will get his second straight start.

The other significant Raiders news was that kicker Sebastian Janikowski did not participate in practice. He has been dealing with a hamstring injury suffered prior to the Raiders game with the Chiefs. Janikowski kicked on Sunday, but it was fairly ginger enough that there is a chance he might not play Thursday. The team has several kickers on speed dial, so they do have options if need be.

The San Diego Chargers listed running back Ryan Mathews as limited for Monday. The Chargers are optimistic about his chances of playing on Sunday, but he will potentially be a game-time decision if he remains limited this week. If he is able to go, he would likely split carries with Mike Tolbert.
