Frank Gore Injury Update: Jim Harbaugh Says 49ers RB Is ‘Feeling Good’

San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore suffered a sprain of his left ankle in Sunday's victory over the Washington Redskins, but in spite of being gimpy after the game, he is reportedly feeling good and expecting to play on Sunday. On Monday, Jim Harbaugh told the press that he spoke with Gore and that x-rays came out good and "Frank was feeling good, he was feeling like Frank." Gore also told gathered media that he felt alright.

Gore reportedly suffered the sprained ankle in the second quarter but was able to finish out the game. Given that and the Monday comments, he would seem to be on track to play Sunday. The 49ers will release their first practice participation report for the week on Wednesday, which will give us a better idea of where things stand with Gore. It would not be surprising if he was limited on Wednesday so that he could get the ankle completely healthy for the rest of the week.

If Gore ends up unable to play, Kendall Hunter would get the start in his place. Hunter suffered a dislocated finger on against the Redskins and there has been no word as to his status. Anthony Dixon is the current third-string running back and the 49ers have former Boise State hero Ian Johnson on their practice squad.
