Ryan Clark, Ray Lewis Combine For $60,000 In Fines From Ravens-Steelers Game

Several players were fined from Sunday’s Ravens-Steelers game including Ray Lewis, Ryan Clark and James Harrison.

The Baltimore Ravens beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football in dramatic fashion but players from both teams were fined for their actions during the game. Specifically, Steelers S Ryan Clark and Ravens LB Ray Lewis were fined for illegal hits.

Clark was fined $40,000 for a hit on Ravens TE Ed Dickson where he appeared to lead with his shoulder but his helmet made contact with Dickson’s. The Steelers, and Clark, don’t agree with the fine as Mike Tomlin reportedly used Clark’s hit as an example of a good hit during the team’s film review.

Clark was fined for a hit two weeks ago against the Patriots as well.

Lewis was fined $20,000 for a helmet to helmet hit on Steelers WR Hines Ward during the game. Ward appeared dizzy and left the game without returning. Lewis said while he respects the league’s efforts to make the game safer this fine won’t change the way he plays the game.

Another Steeler that can expect to be fined is LB James Harrison, ESPN reports.

The fines are getting quite the reaction in Pittsburgh where our Steelers blog, Behind The Steel Curtain, reports that Ben Roethlisberger has called out the NFLPA regarding the fines.
