Drew Brees, Beanie Wells And Five Things That Made Week 12 Awesome

Drew Brees’ amazing performance, another close Tim Tebow win and Beanie Wells’ record setting performance are among the five things that made Week 12 of the 2011 season awesome.

In a week that included some amazing individual performances, some extremely close games and, of course, Thanksgiving, it’s hard to pick just five things that made Week 12 of the 2011 NFL season great. But, after careful consideration, we were able to whittle the list down to just five things.

Drew Brees Dominates

If your fantasy team needed Drew Brees to have a big game on Monday Night Football against the Giants you weren't disappointed. Brees was pretty much perfect on Monday night completing 24 of 38 passes for 363 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran the ball in for a score. The Saints won 49-24 maintaining a one-game lead over the Falcons in the NFC South and Drew Brees put up one of the best performances of his career.

Tim Tebow Strikes Again

I don't know if it's Tim Tebow's that pushed the Broncos over the Chargers or if it was just another example of the Chargers spiraling season. Maybe a little of both, but Tebow and the Broncos once again came from behind to win, this time in overtime thanks to a long run from Willis McGahee. This makes four games in a row in for the Broncos (and six in a row that the Chargers have lost) and suddenly Tim Tebow and the Broncos are threatening a playoff spot.

Beanie Wells

Chris "Beanie" Wells had only rushed for 100 yards in two games with the Arizona Cardinals heading into Thanksgiving weekend. What he did on Sunday blew both of those 100-yard games out of the water. Beanie Wells ran the ball 27 times against the Rams and those carries for a whopping 228 yards along with a touchdown. Not only did he destroy his own career record, but he set a new franchise record for single-game rushing yards.

Close Games

There were 10 games in Week 12 that were decided by a touchdown or less and one game that was decided by only eight points. Nothing is better than watching a nail-biter that comes down to the wire and this week didn’t fail to deliver.

Thanksgiving (and Football)

There is no holiday built around food and football like Thanksgiving. Not only do we get to sit around and stuff our faces with turkey, ham, stuffing and just about every other item of food that isn't tied down, but we get to sit on the couch and watch football from the early afternoon through the late evening. We got to see the Packers stay perfect, a close game between the Cowboys and Dolphins and at night we got to watch the Harbaugh Bowl. Do football weekends get much better than Thanksgiving?
