The Denver Broncos Week 12 victory over the San Diego Chargers came at a price as star rookie LB Von Miller suffered a thumb injury, which required surgery earlier this week. So that officially puts his status for Week 13 as unknown. He didn't practice on Wednesday but has another couple of days to get on practice time in before Sunday, if he's going to play.
Von Miller’s Injury Status Is Uncertain Entering Week 13
The Denver Post reports that a thumb injury like this would usually keep a player out at least a week but Miller has stated he plans to play on Sunday. In fact, Miller didn’t come out of last week’ game after the injury, instead staying in to make a big stop in overtime to help the Broncos to victory.
Miller is having a heck of a rookie season with 10.5 sacks through 11 games. If he can't go, Mario Haggan says he'll be ready to replace him.
“People are acting like they’re having a heart attack,” Haggan said of Miller’s possible absence Sunday. “I think the only person not worried is me. But I understand. He’s definitely worked to become worthy of the high draft pick that he was. He’s been balling. I’m sure he’ll doing everything he can to play. If not, I’ll be ready.”
The Broncos defense has been terrific lately -- Miller was just named defensive rookie of the month -- so losing him would obviously be a blow to the Broncos. They travel to Minnesota this weekend to take on the Vikings.
