DeMarco Murray Injury Update: Fractured Ankle And High Ankle Sprain Bad News For Cowboys

TheDeMarco Murray injury on Sunday Night Football was a bit unclear, according to the video, when it originally happened to the Dallas Cowboys rookie running back. It appears now, however, that Murray both fractured his ankle and suffered a high ankle sprain in an injury that could cost him the season.

Murray’s new injury diagnosis was first reported by ESPN Dallas’s Tim MacMahon. He also reported that Murray is likely out for the season, something that isn’t necessarily surprising considering the severity of the ankle injuries.

Murray rushed 159 times this season for 872 yards and two touchdowns this season after replacing Felix Jones earlier in the year after the Cowboys incumbent went down with an injury. The rookie had also caught 25 passes for 177 yards while having a large part in just six of the Cowboys games this season.

With Murray out, it's likely the Cowboys will be forced to sign another running back to back-up Jones as they released Tashard Choice earlier in the season.
