With a Sunday Night Football win over the Dallas Cowboys -- thanks to a iced kicker -- the New York Giants have the inside track to the playoffs, leading the NFC East by a game with three to go. The Giants hold a 7-6 record and would be the No. 4 seed in the NFC if the playoffs started right now. The Cowboys are also at 7-6, but lose out to the Giants by way of the head-to-head tiebreaker.
NFL Playoff Picture: New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys Battle For NFC East
The New York Giants hold the NFC East tiebreaker over the Dallas Cowboys and would be the No. 4 seed if the playoffs started this weekend.
The Cowboys are also alive in the NFC wildcard race, currently sitting a game back of both spots. The Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions, each at 8-5, would be the two wildcard teams if the playoffs started this week, with the Cowboys and Chicago Bears a game off the pace. The Bears hold a tiebreaker over the Cowboys as it stands now based on conference winning percentage.
Elsewhere, the 5-8 Philadelphia Eagles hopes are all but dead. The same goes for the Washington Redskins, who are currently 4-9.
