For the first time in team history, the Houston Texans are heading to the playoffs. The Texans not only secure a spot in the postseason, they clinched the division, becoming the first AFC team to lock up a playoff bid to this point. And as it stands now, the Texans would be the No. 1 seed in the AFC, though two other teams hold the same record through 14 weeks.
NFL Playoff Picture 2011: Houston Texans Clinch AFC South
The Houston Texans have clinched their first playoff bid and the NFC South.
The Texans hold a record of 10-3 through this point in the season -- the same record as the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens. But because the Texans have the better in-conference win percentage, they hold the tiebreaker for now. The Ravens are the No. 2 seed and the Patriots are the No. 3 seed through this past weekend.
The Tennessee Titans are still alive and in the playoff picture, as well, at 7-6. Tennessee is currently one-game behind the last wildcard spot, in a tie with the Cincinnati Bengals and Oakland Raiders. Thanks to conference win percentage, Tennessee holds the tiebreaker as it stands now, but is still chasing the 8-5 New York Jets for the final playoff spot.
