The Minnesota Vikings have gone 5-14 since Leslie Frazier took over the head coach position. However, Frazier has been assured he will return to coach the Vikings in 2012, according to a report by Jeremy Fowler of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Vikings Tell Leslie Frazier He’ll Be Back In 2012, According To Report
Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier has been assured he will return as the Vikings head coach in 2012, according to a report.

Financially, keeping Frazier makes sense. The Vikings are still paying former coach Brad Childress’ buyout of about $5 million until after the 2012 season, an amount that can be reduced if Childress gets another job before then. Firing Frazier presumably would force the Vikings to pay two coaches not to coach.
Vikings owner Zygi Wilf has been asked about Frazier’s future with the team multiple times and has consistently said he would be back with the team. Frazier started 3-3 as an interim coach last season, but the Vikings have gone just 2-11 this season under Frazier, albeit while starting a rookie quarterback. Frazier does face an important offseason, however, where he will need to rebuild a depleted aging roster and make some decisions on his coaching staff.
