New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman was arrested in November for indecent assault and battery after he allegedly groped a woman at a night club. The prosecutors are now saying that the charges will be dropped because they wouldn't be able to meet the burden of proof.
Charges Against Julian Edelman Dropped
“After a thorough investigation of this case by the Boston Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit ... the Commonwealth has concluded that it would not be able to meet its burden at trial of proving each of the elements of indecent assault and battery beyond a reasonable doubt,” prosecutors said in a document filed in court today, according to Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office.
Prosecutors say video evidence indicates that Edelman approached a woman on the dance floor and did make contact with her hand briefly but the contact was “fleeting” and “did not meet the elements of a crime.”
Edelman now goes back to focusing on the 10-3 Patriots and clinching an AFC East title.
