Cowboys ‘Unlikely’ To Claim Donovan McNabb Off Waiver Wire

The Minnesota Vikings released Donovan McNabb on Thursday which means the veteran quarterback hits the waiver wire where every team will have an opportunity to claim him and his contract. Shortly after his release, we speculated that three teams could consider a claim on McNabb -- Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears and Houston Texans.

The Texans reportedly aren't interested even though they're down to their third quarterback, rookie T.J. Yates. Houston signed Kellen Clemens and Jake Delhomme in the last two weeks.

Now another team reportedly isn’t interested in McNabb. Matt Mosley of FOX Sports SW reports that the Cowboys are not expected to put a claim in on McNabb.

But a source told FoxSportsSouthwest.com that McNabb would not be a good fit for Jason Garrett’s offense and it was unlikely the Cowboys would put in a claim for him once he’s placed on waivers.

So that’s that. The Bears are the only team remaining on our initial list of candidates but there’s been speculation that McNabb may not even be a fit there. The deadline to claim him comes at 4:00 p.m. (ET).
