Quarterback Josh McCown will get his first start for the Chicago Bears over Caleb Hanie when the team takes on the Green Bay Packers this Sunday according to ESPN Chicago who is quoting multiple sources.
Josh McCown To Start Over Caleb Hanie For Chicago Bears
According to reports, Josh McCown will start for the Bears this weekend when they face the Packers.
Hanie threw three interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns, in Chcago's 38-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks last Sunday. The loss extended the Bears' losing streak to four games and gave Hanie nine interceptions in four games since Jay Cutler fractured his thumb.
The Bears’ offense has scored just 40 points over the last four games.
McCown was acquired on Nov. 23 and replaced Hanie for the last two drives against the Seahawks. He completed one pass and threw an interception.
Since 2007, McCown has attempted just eight passes in the NFL.
Lovie Smith was non-commital to naming a starter when asked, though he did add that “the best guys who give us an opportunity to do that will be on the field.”
