NFL Odds And Lines Week 16: Chargers Vs. Lions

While the San Diego Chargers try to stay in the AFC West race, the Detroit Lions will look to disrupt those chances, just as they did against the Oakland Raiders last weekend.

The San Diego Chargers are very much alive in the AFC West race, but they'll need at least a loss by the Denver Broncos on Saturday to stay in the picture. That is, if they take care of business against the Detroit Lions on Saturday. The odds makers are seeing this as a close game, as Odds Shark had the opening line of the game at three points in favor of the Lions. It has since moved on a couple of lines to 1.5 points.

The Lions pulled off one of the season's great comebacks last Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. Down by 13 points with less than eight minutes left in the game, Matthew Stafford threw two touchdown passes in the final five minutes to put the Lions up, 28-27. The second touchdown came with 39 seconds left. The Raiders actually attempted a 65-yard field goal as time expired, but Ndamukong Suh blocked it.

Both of these teams are capable of putting up points on the board, which makes the over/under of 52.5 points a reasonable estimate for this game. Stafford certainly knows how to pile on the touchdown passes.
