NFL Scores Week 16: Vikings Vs. Redskins, Costly 33-26 Win For Minnesota
The Minnesota Vikings picked up their third win of the season this week, beating the Washington Redskins by a final score of 33-26. However, it proved to be a costly victory for Minnesota.
Peterson and Ponder were injured on consecutive plays in the third quarter. The Vikings managed to continue scoring after those two left the game. Backup quarterback Joe Webb tossed two touchdown passes and ran in another one as the Vikings scored 23 points in the second half. Running back Toby Gerhart, who took over for Peterson, finished the game with 109 rushing yards on 11 carries. Percy Harvin led the Vikings receivers with five catches for 65 yards and a touchdown.
Without rookie running back Roy Helu, Washington got a big performance from another rookie, Evan Royster, who ran for 132 yards on 19 carries. Quarterback Rex Grossman had 284 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the game.
With three win, Minnesota left the race for the first overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. St. Louis and Indianapolis are vying for that honor now. The Vikings finish their season with a home game against the Bears.
Washington is now 5-10 for the season. They travel to Philadelphia next week.
