NFL Scores Week 16: 49ers Vs. Seahawks, SF Scores Come-From-Behind Victory

49ers defense allows first 100-yard rusher and first rushing touchdown, but is still good enough to keep it close enough for a come-from-behind win.

The San Francisco 49ers defense showed some chinks in their armor, but were still good enough to keep it close enough for the offense to score a come-from-behind victory over the Seattle Seahawks for a 19-17 victory on Saturday. The kept the hopes of a first-round bye alive for the 49ers (12-3). Even before the result was final, the Seahawks had been eliminated from the playoffs when the New York Giants won their game.

The Seahawks, though, showed no lack of motivation. Marshawn Lynch ended a pair of season-long streaks for the 49ers defense, becoming the first player to rush for a 100 yards in a game and the first to score a rushing touchdown against the top-ranked run defense in the league. Lynch rushed for 107 yards and scored a 4-yard rushing touchdown, the 11th straight game in which he's visited the endzone, that gave the Seahawks a fourth-quarter lead. Lynch's touchdown immediately followed a blocked punt that set up the Seahawks' on the 49ers' 4-yard line.

But Alex Smith helped move the 49ers 37 yards to set up David Akers' fourth field goal of the game, which proved to be the game-winner. Akers had already set a new NFL record earlier in the game when he hit his 41st field goal of the season, nudging past Neil Rackers.
