Tony Romo’s Injury Just A Bruised Hand; Cowboys QB Says He’ll Be Fine

Tony Romo wasn’t long for Saturday’s matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles, lasting less than a quarter before leaving with a severely bruised hand. In a game that meant nothing for the Cowboys, Romo hit his throwing hand on a defensive lineman’s helmet, leaving for x-rays immediately after. Though x-rays were negative, his hand simply looked terrible, with a significant amount of swelling.

After the game, Romo said he’ll be ready to go this coming weekend as the Cowboys battle the Giants for the NFC East crown and a spot in the playoffs.

“I’ll be fine,” Romo said as he walked to the elevator after Saturday’s 20-7 loss to Philadelphia. “I think I just took a hit from the helmet. We’re going to be all right though.”

“I have no idea what’s going to happen going forward,” Romo said. “I assume I’ll be good to go for practice and everything.”

Romo felt he could have come back on Saturday, but with the game meaning nothing and a large Week 17 matchup looming, he didn’t lobby quite as hard as he would have otherwise. Romo’s situation will be one to watch throughout the week as the Cowboys prepare for a Week 17 matchup with the Giants with the playoffs on the line.
