The NFC playoff scenarios aren't as complicated as the AFC playoff scenarios. We know five of the six playoff teams and the final spot will be determined in a Week 17 game between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants.

If the playoffs started today, the NFC seeds would be: 1.) Green Bay Packers 2.) San Francisco 49ers 3.) New Orleans Saints 4.) New York Giants 5.) Detroit Lions 6.) Atlanta Falcons.

The five teams that have clinched playoff spots -- Packers, 49ers, Saints, Lions and Falcons. The Cowboys and Giants game is the simplest playoff scenario out there -- the winner gets in and the loser is out.

There are, however, still a few seeds to be worked out.

The Packers are all wrapped up as the NFC’s No. 1 seed and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. That’s already settled.

The 49ers, who have clinched the NFC West title, can clinch the second seed and a first round bye if they beat the Rams this weekend. If they don't, it opens the door for the Saints to swoop in and take the second seed.

The Saints can clinch the NFC South title by beating the Falcons on Monday Night Football. If they lose, they can still clinch the division title next week with a win. But two Saints losses combined with two Falcons wins and Atlanta takes the NFC South crown.

The winner of the Cowboys and Giants game will be the fourth seed.

The Falcons clinched a playoff spot and they can still win the NFC South if they win out and the Saints lose out. Either way, they're in due to the Bears losing last weekend.

The Lions have also clinched a playoff spot so they’re in. All that’s left for them is to determine whether they’re the fifth or sixth seed in the NFC playoffs.
