While the seriousness of the injury is still not know, the Miami Dolphins announced on Tuesday that left tackle Jake Long was being placed on the season-ending injury-reserve list. From a practical standpoint, this simply means that Long will miss the Dolphins' final game of the season and will have to be replaced in the Pro Bowl.
Jake Long Heads To Injured Reserve, Will Miss Pro Bowl Too
Extent of injury not known, but Dolphins place Jake Long on IR with one game left in the season.
Long was hurt during the Dolphins' most recent game against the New England Patriots, suffering a right biceps injury and being pulled from the game in the second quarter. After the game, he was apparently not favoring his arm.
It's quite possible that he was placed on IR more as a precautionary move. Long has been battling a variety of injuries this season and this could simply be a way of forcing him off the field and focusing on next season with the Dolphins already out of the playoff hunt. John Jerry will most likely get the start at left tackle against the New York Jets.
