Terrell Owens May Be Nearing Deal With Arena League’s Allen Wranglers

Terrell Owens could be coming to an arena near you, if Allen Wranglers general manager Drew Pearson is to be believed. Pearson, along with owner Jon Frankel, announced his team is nearing a deal that would pay Owens in the mid-six-figures in addition to some sort of ownership stake in the team.

Pearson felt the deal was progressing nicely and has a realistic chance of being completed.

“When he started, he felt there was maybe about a zero percent chance he could get it done, but through his persistent efforts and really wanting to make this happen, he has been able to make contact with their people. Now it’s in a stage where he thinks it’s at the point where it’s about 70 percent done and close to being finalized, so we’ll see how it shakes out from this point.”

Whether there’s actually some sort of framework in place is anyone’s guess as public relations stunts are a dime a dozen in arena leagues and minor leagues throughout the country. For what it’s worth, ESPN cited a source close to Owens saying only that the Wranglers want him. Owens is still recuperating from ACL surgery, and has yet to command any sort of attention from NFL teams, even after an open workout in late October.
