VIDEO: Jason Garrett Iced His Own Kicker

I have no idea why Jason Garrett did this, but he cost the Dallas Cowboys the game. After moving the ball into field goal range with clock management that should've been set to Yakety Sax, Tony Romo spiked the ball to stop the clock and get the special teams unit on the field. All was well. So well, in fact, that Dan Bailey drilled the 49-yard field goal attempt with the score tied at 13 and just seconds to go.

Except he didn’t. Bailey’s field goal didn’t count because Garrett ICED HIS OWN KICKER. Seriously, this is a thing that happened. The clock was already stopped, and Garrett called a timeout at the last moment. He even looked like he was going to ice an opponent’s kicker.

We all know what happens next. Bailey missed the second attempt and the score remained tied. The chance to win it in regulation was gone, all thanks to whatever was going through Garrett’s mind at that moment.

There’s days I wonder how difficult it is to be an NFL head coach. This is not one of them.

The Cowboys lost by the way. Of course they did.
