The Minnesota Vikings are 2-10 and should be in line for a top five pick but that won't cost Leslie Frazier his job. The Vikings first year head coach received assurance from owner Zygi Wilf that he'll be back next year as the head coach.Wilf didn't acknowledge any other possible changes in the team's front office.
Owner: Leslie Frazier Will Return In 2012 As Vikings Head Coach
Leslie Frazier’s Vikings are just 2-10 on the season but team owner Zygi Wilf said that the head coach would return in 2012.
Despite the record, I don’t think there was a serious question as to whether Frazier would be back. Most NFL coaches receive at least two years before getting their walking papers so it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that Frazier will be back.
The positives in a 10-loss season through 12 games is that of those losses, seven have been within one score. You could make the case for the Vikings winning five of those 10 losses if the ball bounced their way late in the game. They’ve been losing but they’ve been competitive and I think with a rookie quarterback (who had no offseason) that’s about all you can ask for.
The Vikings do have a few individual talents among the league's elite -- Jared Allen and Adrian Peterson -- and Christian Ponder appears headed in the right direction so the future isn't as bleak in Minnesota as most 2-10 teams.
