NFL Fines Richard Seymour, Jerod Mayo And Others For Week 13 Actions

The NFL handed out fines for some naughty behavior in Week 13. Raiders defensive lineman Richard Seymour led the way with a $30,000 fine on a play that got him ejected from the game.

New England Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo was fined $25,000 for a hit on Indianapolis Colts' quarterback Dan Olovsky last week. According to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network, Mayo struck the quarterback in the head and neck area on the hit in question. He was not flagged for a penalty on the play. Mayo's $25,000 fine was the largest for any New England player this season.

Detroit's penalty-filled affair with the New Orleans Saints generated a few bucks for charity this week. Tight end Brandon Pettigrew drew heftiest, a $25,000 fine for bumping into a referee while trying to get to Saints safety Roman Harper. Stefan Logan was fined $7,500 for unsportsmanlike conduct; he flipped a ball to an opponent according to Pro Football Talk.

Packers cornerback Charles Woodson picked up a $15,000 fine for roughing the passer last week. Woodson drew a personal foul penalty for hitting Eli Manning in the head with his arm. That was Woodson's second fine of the season. Giants linebacker Mathias Kiwanuka was fined $7,500 for an unnecessary roughness penalty.

Dallas Cowboys rookie fullback Shaun Chapas got dinged for $20,000 for a blind side hit on Arizona Cardinals linebacker Reggie Walker during a Dallas punt-return. Chapas made $22,000 last week.

The St. Louis Rams and San Francisco 49ers each drew a fine from Sunday's glorified scrimmage as well. Rams running back Jerious Norwood lost $7,500 for a chop block. Amhad Brooks of the 49ers was fined $15,000 for hitting the Rams' quarterback in the head and neck area.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports that Dolphins linebacker Cameron Wake received a $15,000 fine for roughing the passer, i.e. a head and neck area hit on Carson Palmer. Raiders defensive end Richard Seymour had the week's biggest fine leveled against him, a $30,000 fine for punching Dolphins lineman Richie Incognito. Of course, Incognito is never one to lose out on the chance for a fine himself; he received a $7,500 fine for unnecessary roughness.
