Yes, Michael Vick has already seen his image resurrected in the minds of America's football fans, but even now, not everyone's convinced. And that's why it makes sense that Vick will appear on Oprah Winfrey's show for an episode that tapes next week.
Michael Vick On The Oprah Winfrey Show: Of Course It’s Happening!
See, there are still plenty of obstacles on the path to redemption. People like Tucker Carlson calling for his execution, D-list reporters harassing him, and most of all, the types of people that look to Oprah Winfrey as the great arbiter of morality in this crazy, mixed up world.
They all still hate Michael Vick. So, can he change their minds on Oprah?
Because let’s be honest: nobody’s more predisposed to hating Vick the cross-section of Americans that worships Oprah. Oprah herself is probably more open-minded, but she’s also smart enough to play to her audience’s instincts, so it’s to hard imagine her letting Vick off easy.
And in any case, it’s worth a shot for Vick, and worth the ratings for Oprah. Like I said, she’s really smart. They’ll tape on February 22nd, and it’ll either be the biggest step yet in Vick’s image rehab, or... Well, it could end up being really, really awkward. But make no mistake, if Michael Vick can convince Oprah and her audience that he’s changed, he can officially convince anyone.
So here’s to hoping it’s less Ludacris on Oprah, and more Jay-Z on Oprah.
