Cam Newton Gets Record Deal From Under Armour: And It’s Totally Legal!

On Monday, Cam Newton signed an endorsement deal with Under Armour that'll make him the highest paid rookie endorser in NFL history. It's like two celebrities that have been dating off-the-record for a year; it's not surprising when they make it official, but isn't it heartwarming? And it all happened on Valentines Day!

There will be skepticism and jealousy, no doubt. With true love, there always is.

CNBC’s Darren Rovell has the details:

Terms were not disclosed, but according to sources this deal will be the largest deal ever given to an incoming NFL rookie, surpassing the $1 million a year deal adidas gave to Reggie Bush in 2006 both in terms of annual guarantee and overall dollars.

As Rovell notes, it’s a no-brainer for Under Armour, as Newton’s arguably the most famous endorser they’ve ever had. He’d regularly take the field with no less than 17 Under Armour logos on his uniform. For instance: How many Under Armour logos can you spot in this photo?

He just wasn’t technically getting paid at the time, because, you know, technically, that’s illegal.

Alas, like any lovers, these two could only keep their relationship a secret for so long, and now that the NCAA can longer force them into the shadows, these two can finally go public. And if anyone asks, yes, Cam Newton took the money. It’s all legal now, and Cam finally gets what he deserves from this relationship.

It’s a Valentine’s Day miracle!
