NFL Negotiations WILL Last Until September, Unless They Won’t

If you’ve been paying attention to the NFL collective bargaining agreement snafu, you don’t need any reminders that things are not going well. But you might not have known how “not well” the negotiations are going. Thanks to technology, now you might.

In a text to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, one of the agents in the room, who wished to remain anonymous, wasn’t optimistic about the progress of the labor talks.

“Not close on one single issue,” said the text, transmitted during the morning session. “This WILL go into september.”

Now, it seems serious. After all, the agent was apparently more interested in caps-locking WILL than properly capitalizing September. And if they agent is correct and actually means it will go into September, instead of engaging in hyperbole, that could mean NFL football won’t be played until October or later. This would, presumably, make the league’s plan for an 18-game schedule a little more difficult to carry out this year, unless anyone is interested in April football.

Then again, you might want to take this with a grain of salt. As much as this might surprise you, players’ agents have been note to overstate their case a time or two -- just a bit.
