2011 Super Bowl Predictions: SB Nation’s NFL Bloggers Like Pittsburgh, Too

The Green Bay Packers are set to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV in just about 58 hours. (Super Bowl kickoff time: 6:30 PM ET, FOX. We're almost there.) Both franchises have storied histories: the Steelers are six-time Super Bowl winners, while the Packers have brought home a championship three times.

Who will be Super Bowl champions this year? Everyone’s got an opinion on that matter, and that includes the group of NFL bloggers here at SB Nation. What follows is that group’s 2011 Super Bowl predictions; this year, our bloggers are surprisingly pro-Green Bay, but that doesn’t mean Pittsburgh is without support.

Who’s Picking The Steelers?

Joel Thorman, ArrowheadPride.com: The Packers will pressure Ben Roethlisberger but he’s too good outside of the pocket. The Steelers have been through this before and they win in a nailbiter. Steelers 27, Packers 24

Jason Brewer, BleedingGreenNation.com: I predict this one turns out like nearly every Steeler game I’ve watched. Their defense plays well to keep them in the game. Ben Roethlisberger plays crappy/mediocre for three quarters, then does something amazing late in the fourth quarter to pull it out. Steelers 24, Packers 17

Josh Kirkendall, CincyJungle.com: After much analysis, watching game tapes and interviewing various experts, CincyJungle.com predicts: Packers 37, Steelers 3 (Note: Josh actually predicts a 17-13 Steelers win)

John Bena, MileHighReport.com: In a game like this, there will come a time when Aaron Rodgers realizes he's in the Super Bowl. That moment could be the difference. Steelers 31, Packers 27

Kevin Ewoldt, HogsHaven.com: If there’s one thing I’ve leaned in life, don’t bet against Dick LeBeau or Vegas (the public is betting heavy on Green Bay so far). Steelers 27, Packers 24

Brian Galliford, BuffaloRumblings.com: The Packers are well-equipped to chip away at Pittsburgh and keep this game close, but the Steelers just find ways to win these games. Steelers 26, Packers 22

Christopher Gates, DailyNorseman.com: The Packers have had difficulties against the 3-4 defenses they’ve faced this season, and Pittsburgh is the best 3-4 defense, or any other type of defense, in the NFL. Also, who’s going to bet against Ben Roethlisberger in a big game? Steelers 27, Packers 17

Craig T, BucsNation.com: My head says the red-hot Packers, as they match up perfectly against Pittsburgh's (relative) weaknesses. However, my gut says James Harrison, Troy Polamalu, Brett Keisel, and company will make enough plays and Big Ben will do just enough to win a close game. Steelers 24, Packers 21

Jaxon, CatScratchReader.com: Being an NFC guy and the fact my wife is a Packers fan I hope they win. So of course I have to consequently predict a Steelers victory. Steelers 27, Packers 24
