Shannon Sharpe has become the eighth tight end ever to join the Pro Football Hall of Fame. On Saturday, it was announced that Sharpe would join the Class of 2011.

Sharpe spent the majority of his career with the Denver Broncos, where he won two Super Bowl rings. He was one of the players to revolutionize the tight end position in the 1990s, and served as a favorite receiving target as fellow Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway.
He retired with 10,060 career receiving yards and 62 touchdowns, and has remained in the public eye as a CBS analyst. Sharpe was first eligible for the Hall of Fame in 2009, but was made to wait three years before induction. It’s an unlikely end to a career that began as a seventh-round pick.
