Washington Redskins 2011 Schedule: Season Starts At Home On Anniversary Of September 11 Attacks

The Washington Redskins get a national audience for the first game of the 2011 NFL season, as they open against the New York Giants at FedEx Field on Sept. 11, exactly a decade after the terrorist attacks on the United States that occurred in both cities. After that, the Redskins get another home game before hitting the road for two and then getting an early weekend off in Week 5. After a Week 6 game against Philadelphia, Washington hits the softest portion of its schedule with games at Buffalo, Carolina, Miami and at home against San Francisco. This is where you're reminded that the Redskins went 6-10 last season, though the slate stiffens a bit to close the regular season.

Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 16 vs. Philadelphia Eagles, FOX 1 p.m.
Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 23 at Carolina Panthers, FOX 1 p.m.
Week 8: Sunday, Oct. 30 at Buffalo Bills, FOX 4:05 p.m.
Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 6 vs. San Francisco 49ers, FOX 1 p.m.
Week 10: Sunday, Nov. 13 at Miami Dolphins, FOX 1 p.m.
Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 20 vs. Dallas Cowboys, FOX 1 p.m.
Week 12: Sunday, Nov. 27 at Seattle Seahawks, FOX 4:05 p.m.
Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 4 vs. New York Jets, CBS 1 p.m.

It’s also worth noting that the Redskins are scheduled to play just one prime time game this season; they had played at least three night games in each of the previous three seasons.
