Madden ‘12 Ratings Have Patrick Peterson As Highest-Rated Rookie

I’m one of the people who can not wait for the newest Madden to hit the shelves in late August. The NFL lockout has soured me on football a little bit but, even if there aren’t any games come August and September, at least we’ll have Madden ‘12.

The first thing a lot of people do when the new Madden comes out is look at where the rookies are ranked. Those are the only guys we haven’t played with in previous editions of Madden so I’ll be wondering how EA ranks QB Cam Newton or LB Von Miller.

To find the highest rated rookie, you'll have to look at the fifth pick in the draft -- CB Patrick Peterson, who was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals.

ESPN.com recently confirmed that Peterson comes in as the highest rated rookie with an 82 overall.

But I’m not the only one high on Peterson, as “Madden NFL 12” ratings guru Donny Moore has informed me that Arizona’s electrifying corner will be the highest-rated rookie in the game with an 82 overall, including 97 speed, 96 agility, 93 acceleration, 93 jumping, 77 catching (highest for any rookie CB), and 91 return. In terms of his defensive skill set, Peterson clocks in with 89 man coverage, 82 zone coverage, and 90 press.

What matters the most in video games?

Speed. The faster a player is, the better you can usually play with them. So the fact that Peterson has a 97 speed bodes well for how he’ll be in the next Madden. As long as he hit can hit the seem on a punt return, that 97 speed should carry him well.
