Kansas City Chiefs TE Leonard Pope is officially a hero.
Chiefs’ Leonard Pope Saves Six-Year Old Boy From Drowning
The Americus Times-Recorder tells the story of a woman, Anne Moore, and her son, Bryson, who both attended a pool party last weekend. Pope was also there and when Bryson jumped in the pool and started going down, Moore didn’t know what to do because she, nor anyone else at the party, could swim.
No one else, except Pope, that is.
"Leonard was inside, and he came out of nowhere and dove into the water without any hesitation, cell phone in his pocket and all. He saved my son's life, and I am so thankful that he was there for me and my child."
Incredible story. Pope wasn’t interviewed for the story and if not for Moore talking to the paper about it, we would have likely never known.
Luckily, this story of a Chiefs player trying to save someone from drowning had a good ending. It was nearly 28 years ago to the day that RB Joe Delaney jumped into a lake to save three kids from drowning only to drown himself.
