Is WR Terrell Owens Done After Injury?

WR Terrell Owens will be a free agent whenever the lockout ends but with the latest news on his ACL injury, which required surgery, it's unlikely he signs with a team until late November, at the earliest. Then again, some would also say it's unlikely he ever signs with another team.

A significant injury like an ACL tear is bad for anyone but it’s especially difficult to return from if you’re going to be 38 years old soon. That’s why some people, like Mike Freeman of CBSSports.com, believe Owens may never play in the league again.

In fact, Freeman reports Owens has told people he is considering retirement.

I expect Owens to publicly state his career will go on and there will be no retirement but I can tell you Owens has told several people in the NFL that he has indeed considered retirement. Again, that doesn't mean he will, but he's told people in the sport he's considering it.

Though Owens’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has been fairly silent since news of Owens’ injury broke, he did say it was premature to assume he would retire.

As we’ve said before, if anyone is going to return from a major injury at 37 years old, it’s Owens. He’s the same guy who returned from a broken leg in six weeks to play in the Super Bowl.

Rosenhaus is expected to issue a statement on Owens at some point and presumably he’ll clarify the direction in which Owens’ career is going.
