The College Football Hall of Fame enshrined 20 new members on Saturday night at a dinner in South Bend, Indiana. 16 players, including Desmond Howard and the late Pat Tillman, along with four coaches were given college football’s highest honor.
College Football Hall of Fame Inducted Desmond Howard, 19 Others Saturday Night
Not surprisingly, according to the recap from the Associated Press, Howard stole the show -- just like he did so many times while earning the Heisman trophy with the Michigan Wolverines -- by talking about how much better he could have been in today’s offensive systems.
“Everyone wants to spread people out and try to get mismatches out there in space,” he said. “When I played -- if I did that can you imagine the numbers?
“You got to understand I won the Heisman within the rhythm of our offense. ... We had guys who could tote the pill and we toted it, we just didn’t throw the ball to 21. We tried to run the ball, that was still our primary goal.”
