Donovan McNabb Trade To Vikings Getting Closer

Reports have been surfacing that the Washington Redskins are nearing a trade that would send QB Donovan McNabb to the Minnesota Vikings. Reportedly, the two sides have agreed on compensation -- sixth round pick in 2012 and a sixth round pick in 2013 -- with the only hang-up coming from McNabb's contract.

He’s due a big bonus the day after the season starts and will need to restructure that for any trade to take place. According to the latest from ESPN, the two sides have a “preliminary agreement” in place.

The compensation issues that were one of the stumbling blocks to the trade appear to be resolved. The one sticking point now appears to be that McNabb was concerned Tuesday night about how the Vikings’ side of the situation was handled.

We're not sure what McNabb's concern is. Standing in the way of a starting job is former sixth round pick QB Joe Webb and rookie QB Christian Ponder. He would have a solid shot of earning the starting job there so it appears Minnesota may be his best option right now.

The two sides can agree to trades this week but they can’t sign new contracts until Friday night.
