By now everyone knows the Cincinnati Bengals traded WR Chad Ochocinco to the New England Patriots for practically nothing -- a couple of late round draft picks. The news capped off a huge day for the Patriots who also acquired DT Albert Haynesworth from the Washington Redskins.
Chad Ochocinco’s Trade Could Have Been Patriots, 49ers Or Raiders
Here's an interesting nugget on the Ochocinco trade -- three teams were granted permission to talk trade with him. That includes the Patriots along with the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders.
What if he went to the 49ers or Raiders? Obviously, it wouldn't be nearly as big of a news story as it is the Patriots considering they're adding even more talent to a Super Bowl-caliber team. With the 49ers, Ochocinco makes them a little more dangerous but is he the difference between the playoffs and no playoffs there? I don't think so. As for the Raiders...well, that's where receivers go to die. Ask WR Randy Moss before he joined the Patriots.
As a fan of football, I’m loving Ochocinco on the Patriots. I really think he’s going to have a Moss-like resurgence to his career and it’s always fun to watch a dominant team.
